AIRmaker, Singapore’s leading accelerator focused on nurturing innovative startups within the Internet-of-things (IoT) Digital Health and Smart Cities space, hosted its second Demo Day on 1 August 2017 at the Ascent building at Singapore Science Park. Out of the 8 startups graduating from AIRmaker, 6 of them of have already secured pilots with leading hospitals and enterprises across the region and the world.
AIRmaker’s Demo Day drew in more than 200 attendees, who came to see the accelerator’s 8startups showcasing their original solutions, with propositions ranging from a sophisticated ‘virtual bot’ capable of understanding several languages and accents and handling over 1,000 calls at one time, to a revolutionary communication tool, which allows severely disabled people to communicate via brain signals.
The Demo Day brought together an extensive ecosystem of government bodies, regulators, VCs, angel investors, as well as AIRmaker’s growing network of corporate partners.
By connecting startups with healthcare organisations, industry leaders and companies, as well as its own corporate partner and industry network, AIRmaker is at the forefront of enabling collaborative innovations in the IoTecosystem.

The AIRmaker startups underwent an intense three-month program, benefitting from weekly clinic sessions with the AIRmaker team, along with workshops and mentoring from AIRmaker’s corporate partners, aimed at helping them to fine tune both their business and revenue models, and their approach to customer segment and solution validations.
Jointly setup by Ascendas-Singbridge, SG Innovate, and China’s Runyang Group, the AIRmaker program is supported by leading players in the Digital Health and Smart Cities ecosystem, including BD (Becton,Dickinson and Company), Panasonic R&D Centre Singapore, Philips, Infineon, along with Konica Minolta, Arrow Electronics among others, who have helped accelerate and guide the startups through the program.

Brain Dynamics
Soon to be piloted on in hospitals, Brain Dynamics has developed a ground-breaking brain computer interface to provide a way for severely disabled people to communicate using brain signals. Primarily developed for use by individuals suffering from Locked in Syndrome (LIS), which many stoke patients battle with, this technology tracks the brain’s electrical signals to allow the patient to choose options which appear on a tablet screen. This could be a lower-cost alternative to the eye-tracking technology used by Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) sufferers like Stephen Hawkins, offering accessibility and enhanced wellbeing for patients.
