About The Detailed Introduction Of Echinacea Extract?

Echinacea extract powder is a product extracted from Echinacea Purpurea, E.agustifolia or E.pallida. The main components are phenolic compounds, and also contain a variety of alkylamines, flavonoids, polysaccharides and a small amount of volatile oils. It has antibacterial, antiviral and immune-boosting functions. Can be used as an immunomodulator and immunostimulant. It has antiviral, antifungal and anti-inflammatory effects. It can stimulate the immune response, enhance the immune system, prevent influenza, shorten the period of colds, assist in the treatment of arthritis or skin diseases, promote wound healing, relieve toothache and burn pain, and assist in the treatment of bacterial and viral infections.

[Plant Form] Echinacea purpurea is a perennial plant with tall and thick plants, reaching a height of 24 to 36 inches. After summer, the plant's flowers bloom sporadically until they are killed by frost. The flowers are purple-red, the petals are drooping, the pollen is yellow, and the leaves are wide. Dark leaf veins with brown tapered centers. The height of E. agustifolia is only 6 to 20 inches. The stems are covered with hard steel hairs. The leaves are narrow, oval or rectangular, lance-shaped, dense and covered with downy hairs, dark green, 3 to 8cm long, and 3 to 8 cm long. There are 5 main leaf veins, the flower is pink to red, the petals are shorter and wider than those of E.pallida, extending to all sides without drooping, the pollen is yellow, the purple seed head is tapered, and the main root is long. Gray echinacea E.pallida is smaller (80cm tall) with narrow leaves, gray-purple petals, drooping, and white pollen.

1. Phenolic Compounds
Caffeic acid derivatives, echinacea, verbascoside, D-rhamnose verbascoside, 6-O-caffeoyl echinacea glycoside, 3-malonylglucose cythenoside, chicoric acid, caffeic acid, chlorogenic acid, Isochlorogenic acid, artichokeic acid. Figure 2 shows the chemical structural formula of caffeic acid derivatives.
2.Alkylamines
There are many kinds of alkyl amines, among which Neoherculin is present in EA, and the dried roots contain 0.004% to 0.01%. It has insecticidal, salivation, and local anesthetic effects. EA, EP, EPA, and ET all have a variety of alkylamines: EA root 0.009% ~ 0.151%, EA flower 0.001% ~ 0.03%, EP root 0.004% ~ 0.039%, EPA content is very small, ET is equivalent to EA; EA Unlike the alkylamine types in EP, flowers and roots are found in high amounts in all varieties. Such compounds may have immunostimulatory effects.
3. Flavonoids
EA and EPA leaves contain Quercetagitrin, luteolin-7-glucose, kaempferol-3-glucose, kaempferol-3-rutinose, quercetin-3-ara, and quercetin. -3-glucose, quercetin-3-xylose, quercetin-3-galactose, rutin (0.38%), isorhamnetin-3-rutinose, etc. EP contains quercetin-7-glucose, kaempferol-3-malonylside, kaempferol-3-rutinose, rutin, quercetin-3-rob, quercetin-3-xylosyl Galactoside, 2-isorhamnetin diglycoside, quercetin (0.48%), etc.
4.Polysaccharides
EA root contains inulin (5.9%), which is much higher in autumn and winter than in spring and summer, and the degree of polymerization of inulin in the tincture is 15. EA, EPA, and EP contain heteropolysaccharidase (PS), of which two high-molecular-weight PS have the activity of stimulating macrophages, and the other PS have weak anti-hyaluronidase activity.
5. Volatile Oils
According to reports, EP dry leaves: 0.64%, flowers: 0.56%, roots: 0.24%; EA flowers and leaves contain less than 0.1%; EPA roots 0.1% to 4.0%, with the highest content in April and May, and low content in leaves. at 0.1%.

What Are The Benefits?

Extraction Method

1. The production process of Echinacea purpurea (EP) extract (4%) is to beat the original medicinal materials into coarse powder and extract it with 70% ethanol reflux. Suck the alcohol extract into a vacuum concentration tank, recover ethanol to about 1/4 of the original volume (the recovery liquid also contains 15% to 20% ethanol), centrifuge to obtain the centrifuge, and concentrate under reduced pressure to 15±5 waves (heat test), add appropriate amount of auxiliary materials, mix well, spray dry, sieve, mix and package to obtain the finished product. The product yield produced by this process is 24% to 25%, and the chicoric acid content is about 4%. It is suitable for the production of Echinacea extract containing 4% chicoric acid.
2. Extraction and separation of chicoric acid: Add 1kg of chicory leaves, add 5L boiling water, stir for 1 to 2 hours, filter, add 20% lead acetate solution to the filtrate, centrifuge, wash the precipitate and suspend it in 300ml of water, add H2S gas, and the mixture is placed in a steam bath Heat and filter to obtain a yellow filtrate and PbS precipitate. Wash the PbS precipitate with 50 ml of boiling water. Combine the yellow filtrate and water washings and concentrate under vacuum at 100°C. The concentrated solution (130 ml) is extracted twice with 80 ml of diethyl ether. The ether part is recrystallized with water, and activated carbon is decolorized, and finally 0.4 to 1.1 g of chicoric acid is obtained. Chichoric acid m.p. 206°, [α] 383.5° (C1.555, methanol), appears green when exposed to ferric chloride, and its solution appears yellow under alkaline conditions, and changes color after being placed in the air.
