Heparin sodium inj. Grade is a highly purified anticoagulant derived from porcine intestinal mucosa, produced via enzymatic extraction and ultrafiltration. Its core function relies on the potentiation of antithrombin III to inhibit thrombin and Factor Xa. The chemical structure features a unique sulfated glycosaminoglycan backbone with the general molecular formula (C₆H₁₂O₅S)ₙNa and CAS number 9005-49-6.
Strictly contraindicated in patients with active major bleeding or severe thrombocytopenia. Storage requires protection from light at 2°C to 8°C to maintain stability. Handling necessitates PPE to prevent occupational exposure, and overdose must be managed immediately with protamine sulfate neutralization.
