Polyethylene glycol (PEG) is a synthetic, non-ionic polymer produced via the ethoxylation of ethylene oxide. It features the general formula H-(OCH₂CH₂)n-OH and varies by molecular weight. Common variants include PEG 400 (CAS 25322-68-3) and PEG 6000.
Store in cool, dry conditions away from oxidizers. While generally safe, high-molecular-weight forms may cause gastrointestinal obstruction if ingested in excess. Handle with standard industrial hygiene protocols to avoid skin irritation.
