Properties: NVP is a clear to yellow liquid, can be crystallized under 13℃. It’s easy to hydrolyze and polymerize itself but it can remain as liquid at room temperature for extended periods. Usually, it could be stabilized with polymerization inhibitors - NaOH or TMHPO.
Applications: NVP is widely used in adhesives, textiles, UV-coatings, pharmaceuticals and other industries, also it’s used to produce some homopolymers and copolymers due to its good film-forming properties.
N-Vinylpyrrolidone (NVP) is a key monomer synthesized via the reaction of acrolein and pyrrolidine. It serves as the primary raw material for producing polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP). Molecular formula: C6H9NO. CAS No.: 88-12-0.
Store in a cool, ventilated area away from ignition sources. Avoid inhalation of vapors; use appropriate PPE. Not recommended for direct injection without pharmaceutical-grade purification.
